Anywhere and everywhere beyond our borders.
The places of need are practically without end. We are called to play a vital part in touching some of those places with the love of Christ Jesus.
Ankaase Methodist Faith Healing Hospital
|
In 1990, Christ Church members Jim and Rita Donner went to Ghana in response to a request of the Methodist Church of Ghana and the Mission Society for United Methodists. Their task was to evaluate the need and, if possible, start a small hospital in the rural village of Ankaase in the Ashanti Region. Starting with the shell of a building, they were able to open a small clinic using six of the forty rooms in that building. |

The initial staff consisted of seven persons headed by two State registered nurses. In the first four months of operation from March until July, 1991 the clinic treated 2000 patients and delivered 50 babies in their maternity ward.
The first missionary doctor arrived in Ankaase in 1998 and today the hospital has a staff of over fifty people including four doctors and eight nurses. In addition to the outpatient department, there is a laboratory, an X-ray facility, an operating theater, and a pharmacy. There is a full time chaplain on staff mnistering to the spiritual needs of patients and their families. The hospital program includes a nutrition center focused on the problem of malnourishment, particularly in children; a literacy program teaching adults to read; and a community health evangelism program teaching the essentials of sanitation, nutrition, preventive health care, and, above all sharing lthe knowledge and love of Jesus Christ with many who have been locked into traditional pagan religions, and Islam.
